About MicroPenal
MicroPenal is a Texas criminal law field reference for peace officers, cadets, instructors, criminal-justice professionals and anyone researching Texas offenses. It is sold as an iPhone app; this website offers a limited preview.
Independent
MicroPenal is an independent publication. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or published by the State of Texas or any law-enforcement agency, court, government body or other publisher.
Sources
Offense entries are written from the Texas statutes and link to the statute on the official Texas statutes website (statutes.capitol.texas.gov). Case summaries give each case's reporter citation. MicroPenal publishes the summaries and the presentation; the statutes and opinions are the authority.
How entries are checked
Entries are checked against the official statute text, and each entry shows the date it was last checked. Elements and punishments are summaries and may be condensed; where MicroPenal's summary and the statute differ, the statute controls.
Not legal advice
MicroPenal is a quick reference. It can be incomplete or out of date. Confirm the current statute text, case law and your department's policy before acting.
